On a stroll through charming St. Gilgen on the northern shore of Lake Wolfgangsee, you will experience a perfect blend of cozy village atmosphere and stylish, almost exclusive flair.

Here, where Lake Wolfgangsee is still part of Salzburger Land, are the family roots of one of Salzburg's most famous people: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. His mother Anna Maria Mozart was born in St. Gilgen, and his sister Maria Anna "Nannerl" Mozart also lived in the village for many years - only around 30 kilometers from the Mozart city of Salzburg.

St. Gilgen delights visitors with its special blend of tradition, culture and impressive architecture. One of the most beautiful places is the idyllic Fürberg Bay with the legendary Ochsenkreuz. The modern Zwölferhorn cable car also runs directly from the town center to the summit of the Zwölferhorn, offering spectacular views of Lake Wolfgangsee.

The village also has a lot to offer culturally: Around one hundred different herbs grow in the garden of the European monastery Gut Aich.

St. Gilgen is also at its culinary best: Fresh delicacies are served in cozy guest gardens.
