A day at the White Horse Inn Lakeside-Spa

A steady noise wakes me. After listening intently, I recognise it. It’s raining! Wonderful! Just what I needed, a day like this to really relax. “Wellness”!!!

Just the sound of this sends a surge of well-being through me, and I think of relaxation, calmness, health and happiness. What also springs to mind is the tempting lake pool at the White Horse Inn in St Wolfgang, in which a constant temperature of 30° C can be enjoyed every day of the year.

The receptionist hands me a fluffy, snowy white bathrobe and some towels and I go to the Sauna with its view over Lake Wolfgangsee first. The comforting warmth feels good and the fantastic view of the sparkling lake and its surrounding mountains, the Bleckwand and the Sparber, is breathtaking.

The following photo gallery can be navigated with the arrow keys (left, right).

From here, I can follow a boat from the Lake Wolfgangsee fleet, as it glides smoothly through the water. I cool down by jumping into the lake - with water of drinking-water quality. I can’t help but notice the imposing belfry of St. Wolfgang’s pilgrimage church towering over me. I’ve got my circulation going again now, so I choose to lie down and rest on a warming lounger. Again a huge glass frontage allows a panoramic view over the lake. I spot a floating whirlpool bubbling away outside on the terrace.

A few men are pedalling away in the adjoining fitness room and they almost succeed in giving me a bad conscience. I consider instead, what to do next. There is a large choice and a granite steam room, an infrared cabin, a saline steam room and a “cold grotto” all await my visit. I haven’t made up my mind yet, but one thing I’m definitely going to do is to pamper myself with a treatment in the SPA & Beauty area in this Romantic hotel. I have chosen a whole-body massage and an Oil pack and to finish, I shall spoil myself with a facial. How wonderful a holiday in the Salzkammergut can be!

I let the day draw to a close in the White Horse Inn restaurant. After so much care and attention to my body today, I decide on a light evening meal and a glass of wine.

The weather has brightened up and the sky is slowly clearing to reveal a trace of blue sky. It will be sunny tomorrow. A song comes to mind from the famous Operetta “Im Weissen Rössl” (“At the White Horse Inn”) by Ralph Benatzky, about the barometer rising once again... I’m looking forward to tomorrow! Whatever the next few days bring, I make up my mind to visit the other hotels on Lake Wolfgang that have “Wellness centres” and spa treatments, too. They are Hotel Hollweger in St. Gilgen; Hotel Bergrose and Hotel Seethurn in Strobl; and Vital Hotel Wolfgangsee in St. Wolfgang. I can’t wait!
