Carol-singer´s around Lake Wolfgangsee

### What does „C + M + B“ mean?

At the beginning of January, Caspar, Melchior and Balthasar are moving from house to house around Lake Wolfgang. They are singing for a good cause and are marking the door frames with their blessings.

The carol singers write the year and the letters **C + M + B** over the doors with consecrated chalk. For many this is the abbreviation of the Three Kings Caspar, Melchior and Balthasar. In reality they are the first letters of the prayer "Christus mansionem benedicat" (Christ bless this house).

The **Epiphany Riding** in St. Gilgen, which traditionally always takes place on January 6th, is also something very special.
