It is a non-profit association that sees itself as a cultural initiative to present and promote current art in the ambience of the Deutschvilla Strobl. This striking building is surrounded by a beautiful park landscape and is a bit hidden in Strobl am Wolfgangsee (reachable by car via the retirement home). A house that reflects the changing history of this region. The villa, built in 1896 in Tuscan style by George Schinteliffe-Blacky, served as a summer retreat for the Deutsch family, who purchased and remodeled the property in 1924. In 1942, the villa was Aryanized as a Jewish property and used as a BDM - training center. The property was restituted after the war years and was run as a casino during the American occupation. Until the 1980s, the villa was a vacation and training home of the University of Vienna. This historic building was purchased by the municipality of Strobl in 1988, saved from demolition and, thanks to the "Kulturverein Deutschvilla", is now available to contemporary art as a listed presentation opportunity.
