Sledging & Tobogganing

When the snow is dusting! Depending on the snow conditions, the natural railways around the Wolfgangsee invite you to this fast-paced fun. Of course, rental sleds are also available. Be active in the wonderful nature when the breath starts to steam and enjoy with friends and family at the time. That's the winter at the lake!

Skiing or just a walk in the sun? No, we try something new today: snowshoeing

We already talked about it a few times. Said and done.

By car we drive up the toll road to the Postalm. At the highest plateau in Austria, at about 1,200 m above sea level, perfect conditions are waiting for us. Deep blue sky and freshly sugared winter landscape, just wonderful.

As a beginner we do not have any equipment yet. No problem - they can be borrowed directly from Postalm, Sport Girbl, Lippert Sport or the travel agency Pro Travel.

You do not need much, snowshoes and sticks, then you can start.

We start at the upper parking lot (P3) and carry the snowshoes for a while along the cleared winter hiking trail.
After a few meters, we "strap" the snowshoes to our feet. The first steps are very unusual. Since some walkers look at us skeptically, we start off in the area.

We take the Windkogel. It is wonderfully easy cross country to take the first steps in a pristine winter landscape. The snow cover is covered with "firn" and glistens in the morning sun.

Quickly we notice that the trudge in the snow is more exhausting than it looks. But we continue to trudge towards the summit. After about 1 hour we reach this and are rewarded with a fantastic view of the surrounding mountains. Also the Wolfgangsee, which is partially covered with a thin layer of ice, we can see from up here.

It's going down a bit faster, if not as fast as the tour guides who are passing by.

At the bottom we earned a snack. The many managed huts on the Postalm invite everyone to rest and soak up the sun. Our power reserves are quickly recharged with a giant ginger dumpling.

We are already planning the next snowshoe hike, there is another summit tackled.
