The ceremonial driving down of cattle from the mountain pastures
The farmers’ thanksgiving festival for a good summer on the mountain pastures at the "Im Ramsen” farmstead in Radau. The colourfully decorated cattle are brought down from the pastures and driven into the stables in the village. This year there is also a fete featuring local farm products, vintage handicrafts and customs. Farmers have held a thanksgiving festival for a good summer on the mountain pastures for centuries and today this festival can still be observed first hand on Lake Wolfgangsee. In this annual event, the decorated cattle are driven down from the mountainside back to their farms, accompanied by music and singing. On Lake Wolfgangsee, this ceremony is traditionally celebrated with a large festival at the beginning of October, when locals and guests alike are invited to celebrate together. The cattle are driven down from the “Acker-Alm” pastures by farmer Johannes Baier from the Ramsener farmstead.
