Surrounded by the three towns of St. Gilgen, Strobl and St. Wolfgang, Lake Wolfgang connects the areas of Salzburg and Upper Austria and also forms the westside gateway to the Salzkammergut.
Lake Wolfgang is 114 meters deep at its deepest point and covers an area of almost 13 square kilometers. It holds over 667 million cubic meters - or 4.5 billion bathtubs - of water.
The traditional rack railway takes you idyllically and comfortably up the 1,783 m high Schafberg.

In operation: since 1893, not electrified
