Strobl at Lake Wolfgangsee

Strobl, Salzburg, Österreich
Strobl’s nostalgic country houses, fine art nouveau villas and modern hotels create a wonderful blend of styles, both old and new.
Nostalgic country houses, magnificent Art Nouveau villas and modern hotels and inns provide Strobl with a wonderful mix of styles between old and new. The early history of the area around Strobl begins as early as 739, and records show that the town has borne its present name - Strobl - since the 14th century.

When in the time of the Habsburg monarchy the nearby Bad Ischl became famous all over the world, the village of Strobl also gained a lot of importance. Around the turn of the century it was already a well-known tourist resort with remarkable modern facilities, because the imperial summer residence Bad Ischl also attracted the high aristocracy and the upper middle classes to the Salzkammergut and the southern shores of Lake Wolfgangsee.
Strobl has retained its charm of times long past. The wonderful natural landscape with moors and alpine pastures as well as unspoiled beaches make for a delightful vacation experience. The Postalm is considered the most beautiful high plateau in the Eastern Alps and the largest alpine pasture in Austria. For all nature lovers, it promises boundless hiking pleasure in summer and in winter it transforms into a magnificent winter park with ski slopes, cross-country ski trails and romantic winter hiking trails.

Numerous events take place throughout the year. Promenade concerts and music festivals, water ski shows, operetta evenings, the famous lake festival, and much more provide the right atmosphere every year. An annual highlight is also the Strobler Krippendorf, which takes place during the pre-Christmas period in the course of the "Wolfgangseer Advent".
