Austria's steepest steam cog railway has been running from St. Wolfgang to the Schafberg since 1893. It takes 35 minutes to climb the 1,190 metres to the top of the Schafberg. On a clear day, you have a 360° panoramic view of the glittering lakes of the Salzkammergut and the Alpine foothills with Lake Wolfgangsee, Lake Irrsee, Lake Mondsee, Lake Fuschlsee and Lake Chiemsee.
