This mountain road ascends six kilometres to a family hiking area, located at a height of 1.200 m.
Drive about 3 km from Grünau in the direction of Schindlbach to the Bergstraßen entrance. The gradient (approx. 12%) leads over pastureland, through high forest, larch meadows and beech valleys, with valley and distant views, until you arrive at the Hochberg car park after 6 km and 12 switchbacks.
The Hochberghaus mountain inn awaits you here at 1200 m above sea level - a base for hikers, mountaineers and those looking for relaxation, as well as the starting point for beautiful hikes to the Kasberg, the Sepp-Huber-Hütte and a.
The Farrenau mountain road is open as long as the road isn't icy! The road toll is €10.00 per car in coins at the barrier. Changing money is possible in the tourist office (during opening hours).

Take a ticket to start up at the barrier system at the machine.
Payment of road use fee: Before returning, pay for the ticket in the Hochberghaus or at the Grillwald sales car - you will receive a coin for the trip!
Reduction with the Salzkammergut Card only by paying at the Hochberghaus. € 7,50 per car!
OR when leaving the Bergstraße at the barrier € 10, - only possible with coins (€ 1 / € 2)!
