Music Instruments Museum

St. Gilgen, Salzburg, Österreich
Collection of over 6,000 musical instruments from all over the world, some of which are presented in an impressive way.
The Musical Instrument Museum invites you on a musical journey around the world. From St. Gilgen around the world! You will encounter foreign countries, landscapes and tribes and their music, customs and cultures.

Experience music ... Experience the music of the world! An experience for the whole family.

It is always a joy and almost a miracle for us to see the love and dedication with which people all over the world build instruments, how different and yet similar they are, with decorations that could be and are a work of art. Musical instruments can be found all over the world and this fact alone shows how important music is to us humans. How differently this music is expressed in different parts of the world can also be seen in the construction of the "carriers of music", the instruments.

Though they are violins, zithers or jew's harps, they sometimes look similar and at other times completely different. This also applies to their sound.

As the sound of a musical instrument is its very essence, Askold zur Eck, the collector's son, plays the most incredible of the 4,200 instruments until the visitor can't or doesn't want to anymore. You will see and hear curious and beautiful exhibits, strange as well as powerful and crazy sounds.

Your ears will be amazed!
